Getting there
For our special day we chose the Alentejo region of Portugal, namely the city of Evora, which is UNESCO World Heritage.
How to get to Evora?
Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) in Lisboa is the closest international airport. The drive distance from Lisbon is 130 km or approximately 1.30 hours.
Rome2rio is a great planning tool that can help you explore various logistics options.
Public transport options also exist. For example, Comboios de Portugal operates a train from Lisboa – Oriente to Évora several times a day. There are also buses with Rede de Expressos. For more information about train schedules, please see here and for the buses here
Your Stay
We recommend that you plan to spend the weekend in Evora, not only to fully enjoy our wedding celebration without pressure of time or hangover, but also to have the opportunity to explore the magic of Evora city and its surroundings.
Accommodation
Several types of lodging exist in the vicinity depending on preferences and your means of transportation. For example, options exist both in Evora city and in the surrounding areas there are also numerous farmstays (agroturismo).
Mainstream reservation platforms such as Booking and Airbnb, should be useful. For agritourism, please visit Escapada Rural em Évora.
Please do not hesitate to ask if you are in doubt.
What can I do in the area?
Perhaps you may combine your trip with some holidays?
Evora is a museum city with roots dating back to Roman times. It’s one of Portugal’s top destinations for culture tourism, with architecture from different periods of history.
Located in the Alentejo region, the area is characterised by its numerous vineyards, providing great opportunities for tasting some of the best Portuguese wines, farmlands, and hilltop castles, and it will only take you a couple of hours to reach the Algarve coast, in case you want to combine it with some beach days.
